Day 1
Local Life River Cruise in Hoi An
At a local pier, hop aboard a boat and set off along the tranquil waterways of Thu Bon River. Travel to Kim Bong Village – the first stop of this cultural exploration – and visit a couple of workshops to hear about Vietnamese seamanship and traditional craftsmanship.
Continue the river journey, passing by large lift nets located along the shore of Duy Vinh Commune, until reaching the fishing village of Tra Nhieu. Upon arrival, stop by the Temple of the Whale and learn about the important role ascribed to the giant marine mammal in the local culture. Take a break at the house of a local family and enjoy an interesting conversation about life in the village.
Next, return to the water in small fishing rowing boats and learn using drift nets and lift nets. Try catch some fish before swapping boats again and cruising to the point where the Thu Bon River flows into the sea. Witness the many fishing boats return from a day at sea before kicking back with a refreshing coconut water and travelling back to the pier in Hoi An.
